About Me

Raw food and yoga are my two greatest passions.  My happiest place is when I get to share raw food dishes and yoga poses.

Like most people in this path, it took me years to finally pursue these two loves of my life.  It took me years too to know that these are what I wanted to do.

I did my yoga teachers training at the Sivananda Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram in South India while on a month’s leave from work.  I started teaching soon after but  only did so when schedule permitted since I had a regular 9-6 job.

Then on a trip to Bali to help a friend’s water birthing, I got introduced to raw food: it was love at first bite.  Soon, I started teaching raw food classes as well and six months later, in January 2014, I decided to leave my job.  A little over a year after that first raw food bite, I pursued further knowledge and went back to Bali to attend Pure Joy Culinary Academy’s raw food chef and health educator and detox certification.

about-me2My history/journey didn’t end there though and my passionate love affair with raw food, yoga, and some of its closest allies: detox, pilates, batik painting, Reiki, and Chi Nei Tsang continued.

I went on to teach and organized more raw food, yoga, and detox classes and eventually ventured into Salads by Chef Sonia, a salad delivery service known for its filling and sumptuous serving of (1) dried or fresh fruits, (2) nuts or seeds, (3) another fruit or vegetable, and (4) one cooked vegetable topped with greens and a to-die-for dressing.

After over 5 years, it was time to do something more. I went back to the world of non-government organizations, this time
as a communications officer for a zero-waste advocacy group.  I didn’t think I could love another job again but as time went by, it happened.  Overtime, I had to close the salad business.  Then the pandemic… and it was time to move out of the city and to work from home.

This is where a lot of realizations came to me.

A few years ago, when people asked me how I managed to handle my raw yogini business, I always answered, I’m just

using everything I’ve learned in all my previous work in communications.

I know now that my raw food, yoga, and detox teaching and coaching background is doing the same and helping me excel in my communications work.

So, here’s my revised website where you will see my two lives merged into one.  Call it coming into full circle.  I just call it my life.  It will always be a mixture of all those passions.  Please expect days when the longing for one passion is harder to resist.

Here’s my LinkedIn too!
