Raw Food

jonny freesh - testi

“Sonia is a passionate, talented Raw Chef & Yogini who cares deeply about her students and her craft.  She practices what she teaches and she does both well.  Plus, she likes Durian, which makes her all right by me.” – Jonny Freesh, Raw Food Bali and JonnyFreesh.com (Jonny is my 1st raw food guru and I’m also his 1st raw food student.  He says there have been more than 200 students after me!)

Arlene“I still had some time in the Philippines while waiting for my papers to follow my husband to Sri Lanka.  I learned that Sonia was having a Raw Food session, but I was unsure if the class was only for kids or the food to be demonstrated was for kids, neither being applicable to my case.  But when a sister agreed to join me, I went and was glad I did.  It’s really a whole different ballgame when it comes to food preparation, and you have to find out where to get the ingredients and processing equipment, but it’s a big step toward taking control of what goes inside your body.  We enjoyed organic and healthy alternatives to some of my favorite food like quiche, fresh fruit granola and vanilla ice cream.  Oh and did I mention that I met some great ladies at the class as well?” – Arlene A. Gonzales, Raw Food for Kids Class

Jhoanna“I enjoyed how Sonia’s classes were small and intimate.  The recipes she gives are very easy to do at home, which works for a busy and budget-conscious household.  I attended a French raw food preparation class and I liked how she demonstrated food with only 4-7 ingredients and usually easy to buy.  The class felt like visiting a friend’s kitchen for a few hours of learning about and eating good healthy food with ample time for chika (chat), sharing, and laughs.” – Aloha Jhoanna Parvati, French Kiss: All French Dishes Class

“Sonia’s class was a great introduction to raw food preparation.  We learned a lot about the basics of raw food, and Sonia taught us five delicious recipes that are simple enough to recreate at home.  Thank you, Sonia, for helping us start our raw food journey!” – Ace and Anna, raw food newbies

“I always admire people who thrive to make a raw difference and I know that pretty soon Sonia will be a host of a no cooking show!” – Joey, Juicesabel

Jenny

“Experienced the most amazing, magical and friendly workshops with Sonia!  One of the reasons that I’m a big fan of Sonia’s workshop is that most of her raw food preparation is ingredient-friendly!  You can easily prepare it at home with fewer technicalities – only your full attention and divine presence will do the works!  This vibrant and beautiful yogini will not just serve you with healthy and heavenly rawlicious food, but she will also welcome you with open heart and help you embrace a vigorous lifestyle.  I am looking forward for more of your workshops!  Cheers Raw Yogini!” – Jenny SJ Guinto, Amazing Asia Travels & Tours, Male, Maldives

“I am a kitchen explorer and one of my latest discovery was Miss Sonia’s kitchen.  A kitchen full of color and life, a kitchen that is simple and feels like your own.  A kitchen with advocacy and a kitchen owner always ready to share and inspire.  Ms. Sonia was a royalty at service.  We had five healthy and guilt-free holiday raw food recipes and they are all easy-to-make and delicious.  I am not a fan of fruitcake but her fruitcake was the best!” – Angeli Luna, Beet Your Cravings

“Food is really more than just taste and looks. A day with Sonia can diffently tribute to that statement.  I haven’t been a real big fan of the whole raw food “idea”. I personally consider a raw vegan lifestyle as kind of extreme aspect of going vegan. So it was with a bit skepticism that I joined one of Sonia’s classes.

“And what a great thing it turned out to be! Sonia really got the fundamentals of “cooking”. The atmosphere – making the session informative and fun. It felt more akin to my mom’s kitchen where we openly converse and prepare food at the same time. Oh did I mention we made 3 different kinds of cakes! Yeah, that’s like music to my ears! Especially enjoyed the many uses of cashew nuts!

“It was an amazing experience, and one I would very much reconsider the next time I’m in the Philippines. Thank you Sonia! Much love.” – Peter Porksen, Bride, Groom, & Cakes (raw vegan cake) class

Picture Nanette.jpg_100515It was nice meeting you!  OMG!  I enjoyed your class a lot!  I just needed some motivations to get into it again!  I was craving for Filipino food for so many years and when I get back I didn’t realize…  I gained so much.  If I need some advise about healthy ideas can I call you? – Nanette Cruz Miloda, owner of Nami: home-made organic chili oil and from the French Fit raw food class

It was my first vegan cooking encounter.  I had learned so much and would want to learn more.  We’ll definitely see each other again.  Thanks! – Naty Tan, French Fit raw food class

stephenI had no idea that I was going to Chef Sonia’s class until my mentor and her friend tagged me along to her class of Living Bread.  I honestly didn’t know anything about it so I did go with them and to my surprise, it was a class dedicated to breads and raw foods!  It was really perfect for me since I was going on a healthy diet.  I noticed that she used the dehydrator which makes her bread ‘Living Bread’ and the finished product lives up to its name.  I really did learn a lot from Chef Sonia and I’m looking forward to being in her classes. – Stephen Se, Living Bread raw food class

I’m happy I joined your class.  I already miss your onion bread.  This morning, Mel and I went out to buy ourselves a dehydrator.  Trying it out now.  Til our next living food seminar. – Joane Duque, Living Bread raw food class

I attended the living bread series coz I started exploring on my favorite…. Breads and making gluten-free food.  Learned new things that added to my little knowledge about raw vegan food.  Now I’m excited to explore and experiment.  Thanks Chef Sonia.  Hopefully next time we can do hands-on on making the living bread. – Melanie Zalamea, Executive Catering Chef at Cucina Mela and from the Living Bread raw food class

When I registered for the living bread lesson, I have to admit that I didn’t know what raw bread is all about so when I arrive at the venue, I was somewhat confused and was even looking for the oven.  I thought it was the traditional way of baking but using healthier ingredients.  Hahaha!  Well now at least I learned that there’s an alternative way of eating healthy bread using dehydrator machine.  Thanks for sharing your knowledge – Vivian Saavedra, Living Bread raw food class

It was another fun class again today with you!  The onion bread is one of my favorite!  Those bread were so filling that I wasn’t hungry anymore for dinner!  Let’s keep in touch…  Looking forward to another class again. – Nanette Miloda, Living Bread raw food class

Detox Coaching

jennyI am delighted to have chosen my dear friend Sonia for my annual system cleansing this year.  I requested if she can prepare a-week plan for Liver-Detox cleansing and she was kind enough to grant this request.  The program she prepared does not only focus in Liver cleansing.  She was generous enough to incorporate mind, body, and soul program; such as pilates/yoga, reiki and releasing/let go of your emotional hang up(s).  It was such a profound journey and total mind bender experience.  Sonia is truly a gem and a kindred soul who openly shares her knowledge, experience, and wisdom.  More power to you! – Jenny Sj Guinto

Yoga

colleen rostales-testi“Before I got into yoga, my life was very stagnant.  Good thing, my friend encouraged me to try it – alongside other physical activities such as zumba and belly dancing.  Of all these, I stayed with yoga because in here you see and feel your improvement.  In addition, Ms Sonia is always helping us adjust in class.  Aside from yoga, I also love that she introduced me to vegetarian food.  Look ma, I now eat veggies!” – Colleen Rosales, University of the Philippines-Diliman, Institute of Chemistry

“Yoga improves our well-being, as a whole.  My relationship with yoga is on and off ever since I was 15.  With Teacher Sonia, this relationship has been taken to a new level.  She helped unleashed the maturity and wisdom behind this practice.  Such motivation definitely sustains commitment to sticking with a healthy and happy lifestyle.  More than a mentor, she is a friend whose passion for yoga, raw food, love, and life is simply remarkable.” – Gia Yebron-Capate, UP College of Mass Communication Ashtanga-Vinyasa yoga class

Charm“I really love my yoga classes with Teacher Sonia, parang school talaga (it’s like a real school) with a teacher and regular classmates.  Plus Ms. Sonia’s really nice and chill.  I never imagined myself doing headstands, but here I am, on the way there.” – Charmaine Manalo, University of the Philippines – College of Human Kinetics (CHK) Community Recreation Program yoga class

Elvina“Miss Sonia is very encouraging and patient with her students.  I have only attended 3 sessions of her class so far.  In a short time, I was able to achieve headstand with her guidance.  It was really daunting and looked difficult but with her nudging and guidance I did it.  I was thinking that I’d get to do it only after my 10th class with her.  Yoga is still challenging for me but it helps to have such an encouraging teacher.” – Elvina dela Cruz, Online ESL teacher, Rarejob Philippines

Xylene“Stretching the limits literally and figuratively, yoga has benefitted me, not just physically, but also mentally – and somehow, spiritually.  Since I have joined Ms. Sonia’s yoga class more than 5 months ago, I must say that I have felt so much better about myself.  I was able to challenge myself, to conquer my inhibitions, and to be more flexible in more ways than one.” – Xylene Dolor, Staff, Office of Sen. Teofisto “TG” Guingona

Pilates

“Last summer I was iArlenen the Philippines in between my husband’s postings abroad and wanted a physical activity that would supplement my walks on campus.  When I learned (belatedly) that Sonia was having a class at the UP Gym, I decided to join.  Whoa!  I didn’t know I had so many muscles and tendons waiting to be stretched!  Each class ended with me being all sweaty but feeling oh, so grand and healthy!” – Arlene A. Gonzales, UP College of Human Kinetics (CHK) Community Recreation Program pilates class

Reiki

reiki-testi1“I met Sonia a few days ago from Facebook, our paths crossed and soon I found out she was a Reiki practitioner attuned to the 2nd degree, which is pretty amazing because I’ve been looking for someone with a Reiki background to help me cleanse my Chakras.  She is the highest level Reiki practitioner I know of in the area, and she offered to give me Reiki distance healing…  I was so excited, but what happened next was nothing short of amazing…  as I was waiting for her reply on Facebook, I was walking around my room when I suddenly felt this rush of energy flushing my whole body.  It was so strong I had to hold onto a table and a wall if I remember correctly from the energy I was feeling.  A few minutes later I sat down, I kind of had a feeling it was her sending me distance healing, but not so sure because she still hasn’t replied to my fb messages…  next thing that happens to me is my body starts to tingle, first in my crown chakra, to my pineal gland area, next my whole head is tingling, then my arms and legs.  I felt energy in my navel and my chest.  I’m a very healthy guy and I workout everday, 2 to 4 x a week.  I eat a whole foods plant-based diet with strictly no processed food/ingredients and I meditate everyday… this was the first time I’ve ever been healed by a Reiki practitioner let alone by someone attuned to the 2nd degree…  amazing experience!  I can’t wait to feel the Reiki energy in person and also I wanna try her Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage.” – Demosthenes G. Juanatas, Jr., Dentistry Student, Philippine National Football Team, Writer, Philanthropist

First of all, it is a great remembrance.  A privileged moment, under the sign of friendship.  I was happy at the idea to receive your healing, also happy to offer you an opportunity to practice.  During the session, I adrienfelt subtle exchanges of energy between your hands and my body.  As you said at the end, you felt a hot blockage around my heart and my solar plexus, which was true.  I was feeling more relaxed, and more facing my body pains.  I consider this experience as a stone put in the large construction toward inner peace.  For that sharing, I thank you very much. –  Adrien B. (Reiki session in Ubud, Bali)

Batik Painting

Nyoman2“Sonia’s batik paintings are good.  She uses different designs and the colours and the lines she makes using the canting are beautiful.” – Nyoman Warta (Nyoman is my batik painting teacher.)
